Guildmasters can delegate parts of their authority to trusted members
through a handful of appointed offices, and can also name a successor
to ensure the guild falls into good hands should they ever step down
or leave.
Naming a Successor
Use GUILD APPOINT SUCCESSOR <guild member> to name who inherits
the Guildmastery the instant you step down or leave the guild. Only
one successor may be appointed at a time - appointing a new one while
one is already set will fail until you use GUILD UNAPPOINT
SUCCESSOR (or GUILD APPOINT SUCCESSOR NONE) first. If no
successor is named, the seat is simply left vacant for the next
GUILD CHALLENGE LEADER to claim.
Delegated Offices
The Guildmaster may appoint any number of members to the following
offices with GUILD APPOINT <office> <guild member>, and remove
them with GUILD UNAPPOINT <office> <guild member>:
TUTOR - teaches newer members the ropes (see GUILD TUTOR).
QUARTERMASTER - oversees guild property, construction, and lots.
WARDEN - oversees invitations, applications, probation, and ejections.
ARCHIVIST - oversees guild history, rules, description, and message of the day.
Guildhouse Stewards
Stand within a constructed guildhouse and use GUILD APPOINT STEWARD
<guild member> to name that hall's Steward - a title honoring
whoever oversees its day-to-day affairs. Only one Steward may hold a
given guildhouse at a time, and (like the successor) an existing one
must be unappointed with GUILD UNAPPOINT STEWARD before a new one
can be named.
