Libraries are bastions of knowledge, found across Mystavaria in the
cities and well-established villages. Their shelves house collections of
books and manuscripts, preserving generations of wisdom, history, and
legend. Some libraries are famed for holding unique works, while others
grow by day, enriched by scholars, adventurers, and storytellers who
contribute their own writings to the ever-expanding archives.
To locate libraries near you, you may use the LIBRARY command to recall
the location of libraries within your current zone.
Browsing and Borrowing Books
Each library has a distinct collection of books available for adventurers
to borrow and read. To browse a library's collection, use the CATALOGUE
command. This will present a list of available books displaying their title,
author, and a call number (call no.) used to reference them.
To borrow a book, simply use BORROW <call no.>. Books should be returned
within four Mystavarian days, otherwise a librarian will track you down
to forcefully reclaim it.
To return a borrowed book, revisit the library you acquired it from and
simply RETURN <book>.
Contributing to a Library
Adventurers can expand library collections by submitting their own written works.
To permanently add a book to a library's archives, use INSTACKS <book>.
This will add the book to the catalogue, making it available to be borrowed
and read by others.
To pull one of your own books from the permanent collection, use
OUTSTACKS <book>. This will return it to your inventory and withdraw it
from circulation.
