Game Help: Roleplay
Roleplay in Mystavaria Mystavaria is considered to be RP Encouraged rather than RP Enforced. We realise that everyone has their own personal preferences, and we strive to foster an immersive and accepting world for all to escape to. With that in mind, we have created a system that we're hoping will allow players of all types to find middle ground and experience the best of both worlds. Roleplay Preferences We highly encourage all players to set their RP Preference using RP PREFERENCE <choice>. This is a system that does not punish players for playing in their preferred RP style, but rather allows for them to come together without interrupting the gaming experience for one another. The four RP Preference choices are: Minimal You would rather not be confined to strictly in character actions. Casual You are fairly neutral and may shift frequently between in and out of character actions. Preferred You prefer to stay in character, but don't mind irregular out of character interacton. Serious You are strictly in character and prefer to avoid all out of character communication. How does my RP Preference change my gameplay? Well, for the most part, it doesn't! However, there are a few differences that should be noted before making your selection. Minimal and Casual will cause you to speak using OOC SAY and OOC TELL by default. This protects you from accidentally saying something out of character, in character. You can use IC SAY and IC TELL to specify if you want your message strictly in character. Preferred and Serious are the opposite, and default to speaking with IC SAY and IC TELL. If you have one of these preferences chosen, you can use OOC SAY and OOC TELL to designate when a message is strictly out of character. With any of the above options - you will simply use the SAY and TELL commands as normal, and your messages will be sent with proper flags. In all cases, players may choose to IGNORE OOC, which will completely mute messages spoken with OOC SAY and OOC TELL. These messages can be seen again by activating NOTICE OOC. Players can also use RP WHO to see a list of other players that have flagged themselves as RP Preferred or RP Serious. We hope this will aid in helping the more serious roleplayers connect with each other. Will players be punished for mislabeling their RP Preference? This will be on a case by case basis. If someone has labeled themselves as "RP Serious" but sends repeated out of character messages, we will have visiblity to their preference and can adjust and advise as necessary. Please make sure to review HELP RP RULES for further details about when to keep it in character and when it's okay to relax a little more.
