The GIVE and GIFT commands both allow you to hand items from your
inventory to another player or NPC, however it is important to understand
that they differ in one important aspect: ownership.
When you GIVE an item, only its possession changes. The recipient
receives the item, but its owner remains unchanged.
When GIFTing an item, both possession and ownership are transferred.
If you are the owner of the object being gifted, the recipient will become
the new owner of the item, and you permanently relinquish ownership. Should
you GIFT an item that is not owned by you, there will be no change in
ownership.
Take caution and ensure you choose the command that best reflects your
intention before handing an item to someone else.
